Women pray for Nigeria

CHRISTIAN Women in the South West geo-political zone, under the aegis of Women Wing of Christian Association of Nigeria, WOWICAN recently organised a special prayer for the stability and economic development of the nation.
The one-day special prayer meeting held at the Hoarse Methodist Church Cathedral, Sabo, Yaba, Lagos, with special focus on South West governors, particularly, Gov. Akinwunmi Ambode of Lagos State was attended by members from Lagos, Oyo, Ogun, Osun, Ekiti and Ondo states.
Earlier in his exhortation, the guest preacher, Rev. Father Patrick Osuntoyinbo of Regina Mundi Catholic Church, Mushin, maintained that women have great influence in nation building and passionately appealed that women should utilize their God-given ability and what he called “soft skill” to guide their husbands aright for the stability, progress and development of this country.
“Women can go extra mile to ensure their objectives are realised by using their exploits and “soft skill” to influence their husbands for the stability of this nation,” Osuntoyinbo said.
Members took turns to pray for the nation’s leaders beginning with prayers for forgiveness of transgressions that might have been working against the progress of Nigeria.
Highlights of the programme included the presentation of awards to past executives and foundation members WOWICAN, including Rev. (Mrs) Edith Iloh, Snr. Mother-in-Israel Funmilayo Ogunbiyi, Rev. (Dr.) Princesss Funmi Akitoye-Braimoh, Deacon-ess (Prof.) Winifred Fashola and Deaconess Comfort Olaniran.
Earlier in her opening address, chairperson of WOWICAN, Lagos State Chapter, Mrs. Elizabeth Ibironke Onojobi, congratulated the South West Christian Women for their consistence and focus, especially in maintaining that Christian women do not lag behind in discharging their duties as wives and able assistants/partners to their husbands and menfolk in propelling the wheel of progress of the country.
